HRFC Kicks Off the Season with Dominant Win over UPenn

Harvard secured its first win of the season against the University of Pennsylvania this weekend with a score of 80-0. The Crimson showed out for its first home game on Mignone Field in two years by holding their Ivy League opponent scoreless and maintaining a stout defense. Captain Ryan Santos ‘23 says “I am really proud of the way the team played and couldn’t have asked for a better start to Ivy League play. It is awesome to be back playing on Migone Field again after a brief Covid hiatus!” The game was sealed from the beginning as the Harvard ruggers scored 8 tries in the first half alone. Vice Captain Jordan Mubako ‘22 led the attack well, ending the game with 4 tries to his name alone.

Santos also emphasizes the future of the team: “Really promising as well to see some of the young guys step up and I am looking forward to seeing the team continue to get better with every game this season.” The game against UPenn was many of the players’ first rugby game, but with veteran leaders and many lifelong ruggers, the team looks great and is sure to see strong development throughout the season.
